The city of Soma, Turkey, is participating in the EU Sustainable Energy Week with a short video to highlight the retrofitting intervention undertaken within the CITyFiED project of which the city is a partner. CITyFiED is aimed at reducing the energy demand and GHG emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy sources by developing and implementing innovative technologies and methodologies for building renovation, smart grid and district heating networks and their interfaces with ICTs and Mobility. Soma is one of two other demonstration sites, the others being Laguna de Duero, (Spain) and Lund, (Sweden).
The video targets not only these other CITyFiED demonstration sites and the project’s wider community of interest, but also those sites operating under other fellow projects that have come together to form My Smart City District. This group comprises 7 far-reaching European projects involving 22 districts from 12 different countries. It is designed to leverage dissemination and to increase replication of best practices based on the projects’ outcomes for smarter and greener cities and districts.
